Natural Stone Care and Maintenance

How do you care for your natural stone surfaces? Caring for your natural stone surfaces is not just about cleaning them; there are various processes involved in it as well. To guarantee durability, you need to adhere to the dos and don’ts of having a natural stone surface in your home.

Natural Stone Care Tips

To maintain the durable nature of a natural stone, here is a list of what you need to do:

  • Some natural stones like quartz, granite, and others can withstand heat, but that doesn’t mean you have to place hot pots or plates regularly on them. Get a trivet or mat to help reduce the stress on your natural stone surface.
  • Protect the natural stone surfaces in your home from scratch by supporting them with mats or rugs.
  • Always make use of coasters when placing a cup with especially alcoholic content in it. There is no big deal involved; place the coaster under your cup.
  • Regularly dust and mop the natural stone in your home, whether it is your kitchen counter or the floor of your home. Dirt-like sand can scratch the surface of the natural stone. It is also good to dust and mop regularly for hygienic purposes.
  • When cleaning your natural stone surface, you need to be mindful of how you go about it; first, use the right cleaning agent. Water-based cleaner or mild soap and water will do the job.
  • Sealing is also a good way of maintaining your natural stone surface. It makes the natural stone more resistant to staining. We also make use of non-toxic sealers, which are used where food preparation takes place.

Proper care and maintenance can reduce discoloration, which usually occurs due to everyday wear and tear. There are many other ways of caring for your natural stone, but these are the major things you need to know.

If you encounter a problem on a natural stone surface that is too difficult for you to handle, just get in touch with Granite Countertop Worcester, MA.
